TOURING EXHIBITION AVAILABLE FOR HIRE:
Once Upon a Time in Wales by Robert Haines
Until the 1970s Welsh was the first language spoken in Robert Haines’ birthplace. In the close-knit mining community of Heolgerrig, South Wales most of the men worked in the collieries and life revolved around the pub and the chapel. In 1971, when Robert was twenty he set out to capture this way of life, which he felt was on the cusp of change, by taking portraits of some of the characters from Heolgerrig and nearby industrial Merthyr Tydfil.
